About Imlil Mule Riding & Berber Villages Day Tour from Marrakech

Ride through the villages of Imlil, stop for fresh orange juice at the waterfall, and share a wood-fired bread-making experience and lunch in a Berber home in Armed.

We leave Marrakech at around 8:00 AM and drive into our home valley of Imlil. Here you meet your local guide and the muleteers before setting off along village paths through Ashayn. You can ride or walk, and the mules stay alongside the group. At the waterfall, we leave the mules for a short walk of about ten minutes, then take time for orange juice, photographs and a rest. Back on the trail, we ride uphill to Armed, the highest village in the Imlil Valley at about 2,000 metres. Lunch is in a Berber home, with a hands-on bread-baking class: watch bread being made and cooked over a wood fire, then enjoy it fresh with your meal. After lunch, we visit a traditional house that offers a glimpse of mountain life from generations past. The return is a loop through Armed’s stone lanes and Berber architecture, then up to Tagadirt for a clear view across the valley and its ten villages. From there we pass through Aït Souka and finish in Imlil center, where the day began. The outing takes around six to seven hours. Children who tire can ride with the mules while parents walk beside them, and adults are welcome to walk the route as the mules travel with the group. At the end of the day, you can return to Marrakech by private transfer or stay overnight at our bungalow guesthouse in Imlil, with panoramic mountain views and a beautiful wooden terrace. Day Itinerary

Marrakech – Imlil – Ashayn – Waterfall – Armed – Tagadirt – Aït Souka – Imlil

Leave Marrakech at around 8:00 AM and drive to Imlil, where you meet your local guide and muleteer team. Set off along the village paths through Ashayn, riding or walking at your own pace. At the Imlil waterfall, leave the mules for a walk of about ten minutes and enjoy orange juice, photos and a short rest. Return to the mules and continue uphill to Armed (about 2,000m), the highest village in the valley. In a Berber home, join a bread-making class and see how dough is shaped and baked over a wood fire. Then sit down to lunch with the fresh bread. After the meal, visit a traditional Berber house and hear about life in the valley across generations. Continue the circular route through Armed to see its village architecture, then walk or ride up to Tagadirt for a wide view over the Imlil Valley and its ten villages.
