About the 3-Day Imlil to Ourika Valley Trek through Berber Villages

A three-day village-to-village trek from Imlil to Setti Fatma, crossing the Imnane Valley and Tizi n’Tacheddirt before descending through Ourika villages.

This is a journey through the valleys and villages of the High Atlas, not a summit trek. From Imlil, the path climbs above the valley and crosses Tizi n’Tamatert into the Imnane Valley, where terraced fields and small villages follow the mountainsides. The next day brings a higher pass and a long descent toward Timichi. On the final day, walk through the Ourika-side villages of Tiourdou, Anfli and Tadrart before reaching Setti Fatma. Over three days, the scenery and village life change as you travel on foot from one valley to the next, with your local guide and mule team accompanying the route.

3 Days Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil – Tizi n’Tamatert – Tacheddirt

Leave Marrakech in the morning and drive to Imlil, where you meet your local guide and mule team. Begin walking from Imlil toward the villages above the valley, climbing to Tizi n’Tamatert. From the pass, look back over Imlil and ahead toward the Imnane Valley. Descend through the mountain villages to Tacheddirt, where you spend the night in a local gîte or camp. Walking time: about 5 hours

Day 2: Tacheddirt – Tizi n’Tacheddirt – Ibbasen – Timichi

After breakfast, climb from Tacheddirt toward Tizi n’Tacheddirt, around 3,200m. The pass opens onto wide views of the High Atlas and the villages below. Descend on mountain paths through Ibbasen and continue to Timichi in the Ourika area. Dinner and overnight in a local village gîte. Walking time: about 7 hours

Day 3: Timichi – Tiourdou – Anfli – Tadrart – Setti Fatma – Marrakech

Follow the valley paths downhill from Timichi, passing through Tiourdou, Anfli and Tadrart. Take in the villages and cultivated slopes along the way, then continue to Setti Fatma, where the trek ends. If time allows, there may be an opportunity to visit the waterfalls before meeting your driver for the return to Marrakech. Walking time: about 5 hours
